Memorial Day 2009

I won’t bother you with the did you go to a memorial, or the beach song and dance, and simply describe my memorial.

Memorial day is a day set aside to remember those that took their last breath in some other place, in miserable circumstances, so that everyone her in this country could have LIBERTY.  All they know was they were asked to step up and do something and they might not come home again.

…some knew what they were asked to do would be the last thing they would ever do…and they stepped up anyway.

Saturday, my boys and I showed up to place flags on the graves of fallen soldiers.  Apparently it was called off due to the rain (I didn’t get the memo that everyone else did).  I’m happy I didn’t know, because my boys and I got out of the car, flagless, and had our own 15 minute ceremony for those soldiers before us. Some died in the rain, I don’t see why we can’t stand up for them in it.

You have got to be kidding me!

I am still caught up with doing my part to keep my company afloat, as well as keeping the quality of my training materials up, and have been snowed under.  I haven’t forgotten about you.

City of Valparaiso, Florida pursues suit against USAF

You would not believe some of the things going on locally.  While it isn’t nationally relevant, it could become regional.

To give you some insight, this amazing beauty is coming in to Eglin today!

This is how the Valparaiso City Officials thank the adjoining counties:

“…city officials promised to fight any Air Force decision that would use Eglin’s existing runway 1-9 for its soon-to-arrive F-35s.
That promise came to fruition Monday when Valparaiso officially filed its second BRAC-related lawsuit against the Air Force in U.S. District Court.” -NWF Daily News

Those opposed realize the jets will but a financial boom, but they say it’s not about the money.  It’s about noise and the quality of life. Edie S. says, “please be considerate of the values of our house and the values of our children."

Hey Edie, what’s the quality of life when 10,000 people are standing around your neighborhood begging for food.  If you don’t like liberties, get out of the USA, and if you don’t like loud airplanes, don’t live next to an Air Force Installation.  F-15’s have been here since before I joined the USAF, and are loud as hell. God Bless America.

I live right in the flight path of one of the runways. You don’t tell the Air Force to build a new runway somewhere else.  Hell, I want those mothers coming straight over head, balls to the wall.

If any of the officials at Eglin and the USAF can read this, know that we would be glad if you just moved the loud people away, and replace them with F-35s.  Keep up the good work.

If I could get the opportunity, I’d get my old uniform, and stand at attention on the end of the runway as that first bird arrives.  The city officials of Valparaiso, and the whiny bastards that are financially solvent enough to not need a job, can kiss my oshiri.

What’s up!

As many of you have noted, Part Builder is not complete and the content has come to a screeching halt.  I will be testing this month, and I am pushing the studies hard.  I have been trading off content for study time, and I need to study now.

I intend to release a post I held back on Data references, and will add something about once a week.

I will try to complete Pat Builder before I test (note that I said try).

By the end of January I intend to have everything in full swing again.

I hope everyone can understand, and keep popping in a bit, as the site will be back in motion soon.

Happy New Year

Well, It has been a nice vacation. My company lets us off for 2 weeks for Christmas and New Year. I don’t know how other companies do things, but around these parts, it’s a pretty nice deal.
I have spent the time trying to prepare New Years cards, not remembering what postage is these days. If you don’t get a card it’s not because we didn’t care, but it may be because the post office refused to negotiate a deal on the cost of shipping.
Some illness and a family not used to being at home over the holidays keeps my study time down, but I still get up early every day and get as much as I can done before one of the two catch up with me. I’d rather it be my kids stopping me, rather than some permitting agency hell bent on bending my project to their ever changing whims.
I need to get back to what I am supposted to be doing. Part Builder 5 should complete the latest series, and I will have it out soon.
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support in 2008, and to wish all your families the best in 2009.
Happy New Year…..God Bless

The Party

Ok, I will say thank you to all those that my wife either invited, cajoled, bribed, and or extorted into coming to the biggest party of my life, I would like to say thank you.  She even got my best friends to agree to come a days drive to be there (they couldn’t make it after all).  My wife is a birthday and Christmas nut, and goes all out if she can, and will carry on covert activities for months to pull it off.

I was actually surprised that she didn’t try and coerce industry associates like Dana, Dan, James, and Rob into coming. She’d try too, Dan can attest to her crazy behavior. (Sorry guys, and gals, I didn’t invite you, but I didn’t even know it was that time of year again.)

I have never had so many gifts from associates.  A lot of Japanese Beer!

She got my kids to act the part, and even borrowed someone else’s youngin’ just to cover for the plan.  We stopped to drop off the other youngin’ and then suddenly “Dad, I have to go peeeeee!”.  I hate that.  I did not want to go in…I just want to get to whatever restaurant we are going to so I can relax a bit.  “alright…..come on!!”

And there they were..20 people maybe, and people that I can never get to carve out time.  That was pretty cool. My boss was there and offered to help with the restaurant tab, and said “Sorry about AU, but next year will be better”.

There is not a lot of money left in the world. However, for a little while, if only temporary, I was permitted the opportunity to forget about my problems, so I could marvel at the generosity that was extended to me.  People’s time.

Thank you all…..those that came, and those that I wish could have also made it.
